A Year Bursting with Creativity in Year 4 at Our Luton Primary School

What an exciting and creative year it’s been in Year 4 at our Luton primary school! From the first day of term, our classrooms have been filled with curiosity, imagination, and laughter. This year has been packed with memorable learning experiences, hands-on projects, and moments that truly reflect why we’re proud to be a good local school.
Bringing History to Life: Egyptian Day
One of our favourite days this year was Egyptian Day, where pupils travelled back in time to the age of pharaohs and pyramids. Dressed in fantastic costumes, they made intricate necklaces, amulets and headdresses, learning about ancient Egypt in a creative and immersive way. This unforgettable experience allowed children to showcase both their historical knowledge and artistic skills.
Author Visit: Inspiring Young Writers
Year 4 were thrilled to welcome children’s author Peter J. Murray, creator of the Mokee Joe series. His gripping stories and insights into the writing process left pupils inspired and eager to write their own tales. As a good primary school, we believe in encouraging a love for reading and storytelling and it was clear that Peter’s visit lit a spark in many budding writers!
Chickens in the Classroom!
A unique highlight this year was our experience raising chickens! Watching them grow helped pupils develop a sense of responsibility while learning about sustainability and nature, especially during our Earth Day celebrations. It was a beautiful way to connect with the natural world and bring learning to life.
Creativity Across the Curriculum
Creativity has flourished in every subject. In DT, the children built pavilions and baked biscuits, while in art they explored sculpture, papyrus paper and even designed their own zines. In computing, they confidently edited images, and in music, they experimented with the pBone to create their own catchy tunes.
This rich, creative curriculum is what sets our good school apart. We nurture expression, collaboration, and imagination in every child.
Whole-School Events and Unforgettable Moments
Year 4 embraced every whole-school event with energy and enthusiasm. From the madness of MAD Day and the joy ofWorld Book Day, to Activity Day, Science Share, Number Day, and Culture Day, our pupils took part in every moment with excitement and creativity.
English with a Twist: Where Imagination Takes Over
This year, English lessons turned into thrilling adventures. From volcanoes erupting to mummified oranges, and even a chair strike, our hook lessons sparked imaginations and brought model texts to life. Pupils created fantasy maps, wrote diary entries, and even made protest signs for the Big Bad Wolf!
Our English curriculum became a space for expression and storytelling, helping children grow into confident communicators and creative thinkers.
At our local primary school in Luton, we believe that learning should be fun, meaningful, and full of discovery. Year 4 have grown into curious, confident learners with a love for creativity and exploration.
As we end this wonderful year, we’re proud of all they’ve achieved—and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
