What an Amazing Year So Far for our Year 6 classes!

WOW! What a fantastic year we’ve had so far here at one of the best primary schools in Luton. Our students have been busy exploring a rich and excellent curriculum that sparks curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning across all subjects.

In science lessons, Year 6 have been discovering the fascinating world of the seven colours hidden within white light. Using prisms and torches, they experimented to see which shapes created the most vibrant rainbows by clearly separating the colours. We’ve also been classifying animals based on their unique characteristics, inspired by the pioneering work of Carl Linnaeus, the scientist who developed the original classification grids. To enrich our students’ learning experience, we collaborate with Aldwickbury School in Harpenden, who design exciting science experiments for our children to participate in. Our Year 6 pupils truly enjoy these events and demonstrate brilliant focus and behaviour for learning.

Our passion for hands-on learning has also led to some fun and creative science activities, including making different textures of slime — a hit with the children!

In Design & Technology, the students put their creativity to work by designing and building miniature playgrounds. This project helped them develop essential skills such as cutting, joining, and safely using a hot glue gun under supervision, building confidence and practical know-how.

Mathematics lessons have been brought to life through practical reasoning activities based on real-life problems. The children have sharpened their skills in trial and improvement, and confidently used the four operations, strengthening their evolving reasoning abilities.

Sport is another highlight of our good school curriculum. Our Year 6 students have enjoyed learning new skills such as catching, throwing, dribbling, and teamwork. Their enthusiasm and competitive spirit shone brightly on Sports Day, making it a memorable event for all.

Beyond the classroom, our students actively contribute to the school and wider community by taking on various leadership roles. These include Sports Leaders, Anti-bullying Ambassadors, Reading Ambassadors, and Luton Food Bank Young Ambassadors, who work hard to raise awareness about food poverty and develop initiatives to help eradicate it.

As a proud local school in Luton, we are committed to providing a nurturing and inspiring environment where every child can thrive, learn, and grow into responsible, caring individuals.
